What is the Brilliant Series?

Brilliant Series is is a set of online certification courses in AI, Blockchain, Advanced Manufacturing, and Entrepreneurship, developed by Brilliant Catalyst at Ontario Tech University. It is designed for learners both nationally and internationally, providing flexible access to foundational knowledge in emerging technologies along with practical entrepreneurial training.

Each course builds the foundations of its subject matter, while also incorporating key innovation skills such as Design Thinking and Lean Canvas pitching frameworks.

Learners are required to progress through the courses sequentially and must submit and complete all required assignments and quizzes to successfully complete the program and earn certification. Students can complete one, two, or all three courses within a single cohort or spread them across multiple cohorts within a 1-year membership.

Program Format
The program offers two formats for completion. Learners may participate in a live cohort experience, which runs for four months and includes structured learning, mentorship from industry experts, and access to Brilliant Catalyst and ecosystem events. Learners can choose to complete the courses on their own schedule at a self-paced option within the four-month window.

Upon enrolling, all students receive a 1-year membership, granting them access to community resources, mentorship opportunities, and entrepreneurship events.

In addition, learners have the opportunity to build and pitch their ventures for a chance to win prize money through our pitch competition, currently held twice a year (subject to change). As enrollment grows, we aim to expand to offering four pitch competitions annually.
Knowledge Requirements
AI & Entrepreneurship
  • No prior experience required – beginner friendly.
Blockchain & Advanced Manufacturing
  • No coding experience needed. Some background knowledge is recommended, but not mandatory.
  • *Learners are encouraged to start with AI & Entrepreneurship for a smooth entry point.

No prior business or entrepreneurship experience is required. The courses are designed to support learners at all stages—from beginners to those already managing ventures.

Yes! The courses are open to learners worldwide, as long as they have internet access and can complete the modules in English.

All courses are delivered fully online through our digital learning platform. Learners can access video lessons, readings, and activities at their own pace.

It depends on the learner! Since the program is self-paced, completion time can range anywhere from a week to a month, depending on each learner’s schedule and the amount of time they’re able to dedicate. Learners will have access to the platform for one year from their enrollment date.

Course Completion & Credentials

Participants will earn a micro-credential and digital certificate upon completing 100% of the module content and submitting all final deliverables.

Participants will receive a digital certificate issued by Brilliant Catalyst at Ontario Tech University, recognizing their successful completion of the program.

The micro-credential is issued by Brilliant Catalyst at Ontario Tech University and signifies verified learning in innovation and entrepreneurship. It can be shared on LinkedIn or added to your professional portfolio.

Digital certificates and micro-credentials will be issued on the first working day of each month. To be included in the monthly issuance, all final deliverables must be submitted at least 24 hours prior.

If the course is not completed within one year of enrollment, access will expire. Learners would need to re-enroll to continue their progress.

Program Experience

Learners have access to discussion boards, resource materials, and periodic live or recorded sessions hosted by the Brilliant Catalyst team to enhance their learning experience.

Yes. Some modules include opportunities for feedback or mentorship from Brilliant Catalyst staff and community partners, depending on the program structure.

Certain materials and templates may be downloadable for personal reference, but most course content must be accessed through the online platform.

Participation Options

Yes! Learners are welcome to participate in multiple cohorts.

You can choose to complete one, two, or all three courses—whatever best fits your learning goals and interests.

Absolutely. Learners with existing businesses or teams are encouraged to participate, as the content can help strengthen and grow their current ventures. Please note that only the individual who purchases the course will have access to the learning content.

No. You can join as an individual learner, with or without a business idea or team.

Participation in the pitch competition and pitch deck submission is optional. However, to earn the Microcredential in Entrepreneurship, completing the pitch deck is required. If you choose to only complete the course, you will receive a certificate of completion instead.
